{"id":805,"date":"2020-10-26T00:27:32","date_gmt":"2020-10-26T00:27:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ramimarcus.com\/Recipes\/?p=805"},"modified":"2020-10-26T00:33:19","modified_gmt":"2020-10-26T00:33:19","slug":"roasted-pork-pulled-pork","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ramimarcus.com\/Recipes\/roasted-pork-pulled-pork\/","title":{"rendered":"Roasted Pork \/ Pulled Pork"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The cut generally used for slow-roasted pork recipes is pork shoulder or pork butt, because they&#8217;re cheap and flavorful cuts.\u00a0 They are tougher cuts, so we cook for a long time at a low temperature to tenderize.<\/p>\n<p>There are several ways to do this, leading to relatively similar results.\u00a0 My favorite is the Dutch oven, but I&#8217;m biased because I <em>love<\/em> my Dutch oven.<\/p>\n<p>To make <strong>pulled pork<\/strong>, allow the roast to cool before pulling it apart with a fork.<\/p>\n<h2>1.) Prepare the meat (choose at least one):<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Brine overnight.<\/li>\n<li>Use a dry rub.<\/li>\n<li>Season with salt.<\/li>\n<li>Stuff herbs everywhere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>2.) Prepare the pot<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Put down a layer of chopped onions and garlic for the pork to rest on\/over.<\/li>\n<li>Add bunches of herbs.<\/li>\n<li>Pour 1-2c of broth into the pot.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>3.) Cook the meat<\/h2>\n<h3>Roasting pan<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 250F.<\/li>\n<li>Set fat side up on the rack in the roasting pan. Cover with foil.<\/li>\n<li>Roast until internal temp is 180F.\u00a0 The rule of thumb is about 40 minutes per pound.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Dutch Oven<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 250F<\/li>\n<li>Braise the meat in the Dutch oven until browned on all sides.<\/li>\n<li>Cover and place in oven.\u00a0 Roast until internal temp is 180F.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Slow Cooker<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Place fat side up in the slow cooker.<\/li>\n<li>Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until internal temp 180F.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>4.) Don&#8217;t waste the juices!<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Drain the liquid and place in the fridge.<\/li>\n<li>When the fat congeals, scrape off to remove.<\/li>\n<li>Spoon the juices over the pork to moisten&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Or reduce to make a gravy.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Super tender, mouthwatering, and cheap, slow-roasted pork can be used in several ways and freezes well.
