The majority of the time for this recipe is spent filling and folding the dumplings &#8211; but it goes fast with friends or family pitching in, sitting around a table, and chatting. <\/p><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\">&#8212;Ingredients&#8212;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns ingredients-box has-tertiary-background-color has-background is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-f56f613f wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column ingredients-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><em>Fancy<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-tw-border ingredients-list\">\n<li> 300g napa cabage, stems separated, finely diced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp garlic, finely minced (~4 cloves)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp ginger, finely minced or grated (~1&#8243; piece)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/4 + 1\/2tsp salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp soy sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tsp sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp cornstarch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>60g green onions, finely sliced (~3)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 package circular dumpling wrappers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">&#8212;Method&#8212;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60);text-transform:uppercase\"><em>Fancy Method<\/em><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cook the cabbage:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Heat some oil on medium low and add the garlic and ginger. Cook for 1m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add cabbage whites and 1\/4tsp salt. Cook until starting to become translucent, about 3m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the greens and cook until soft, around 2m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove from heat to cool, then squeeze to remove liquid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare the filling:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In a large bowl, mix pork, 1\/2 tsp salt, soy sauce, sesame oil, corn starch, and sugar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knead until smooth and glossy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the cabbage and green onion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chill until ready to use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wrap the dumplings. There are many ways to do this. (See note.)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Add a dollop of filling to the center of the wrapper.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using a finger dipped in water, wet the edge of half the wrapper, then fold over and pinch the middle of the edge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make 3 or 4 small folds\/pleats down one side, then the other. The more pleats the cooler you are.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place slightly apart on a plate or sheet pan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cook the dumplings:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Heat some oil in a medium hot pan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add dumplings and cook until brown underneath, about 2-3m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add 1\/4c water and immediately cover to steam.  Cook until center is 165F, about 3 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column recipe-sidebar has-luminous-vivid-amber-background-color has-background is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"--col-width:33.33%;flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><div class='printomatic pom-default ' id='id3492'  data-print_target='body'><\/div><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">&#8212;Notes&#8212;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list notes-list\">\n<li>This is my preferred method of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/fEEELENi5-I\">folding dumplings,<\/a> but there are many, many ways to do this, easily discovered by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/results?search_query=how+to+fold+dumplings\">quick YouTube search<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dumpling wrappers are one of the few items I don&#8217;t feel is worth making from scratch. For me, store-bought dumpling wrappers are great.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These can be frozen for later.
