Basic Stuffing

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 stalks celery, diced
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 12c bread cubes (15oz dried cubes)
  • 3-4c chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp parsley
  • 2tbsp fresh herbs, chopped fine (sage, thyme, rosemary)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

 

 

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat and add onion, celery, and herbs.  Cook until soft, about 10-15m.
  3. Place the bread cubes in a large bowl.  Add onion mixture.  Pour in broth about 1/2c at a time, pausing to mix.  Continue until bread cubes are moist but not soggy.  You may not need all of the broth.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Transfer to baking dish, cover and bake for 35m.  Uncover and bake an additional 10m.
  6. Remove when warmed through.
